"My father, Frank Graham, an elderly gentleman of 94 entered Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia Ontario in May of 2004.  He had come from a retirement residence in the same city because it was discovered that he required more care and that his needs could be better met in a long-term care home such as Vision.
 
My father's mobility and general health were good at that time, but he needed help with socialization and nutritional issues.  These matters were attended to conscientiously and appropriately.  I believe it is fair to say that before my mother's death almost five years ago, my father lived much to himself, as somewhat of a recluse, even though by nature he was in his earlier life a highly social individual.  At Vision Frank has been invited to attend annual camping trips which he loves.  He has been taken on numerous bus rides and supper excursions and he has attended some theatrical performances during his tenure at Vision.  He has blossomed and thrived as a result of these initiatives.  I am deeply grateful to the members of the Activity department at Vision for the care, creativity and commitment which they put into their work.  The results are very evident and rewarding.
 
At this time in Frank's life (almost 97), some issues of mobility and cognition are beginning to surface.  The staff have responded promptly to questions and concerns which I have voiced and have made valuable suggestions about how to cope with these new challenges.  The nursing and care-giving personnel are on top of their jobs and attend to situations promptly.
 
I would like to conclude my remarks by stating my appreciation for the respectful and loving attitude evidenced in the treatment of Vision residents on a daily basis.  I believe that Vision is living out its motto of treating others as one would wish to be treated very successfully.  I am thankful for all staff who make this happen."
