In support of our Mission Statement, the goal of the Dietary Department is to provide

wholesome nutritious meals to residents, family members, clients, staff and volunteers.

The Dietary Department focuses on individual needs and quality services for the residents in

a pleasant environment. This objective shall be an integral part of the homes total health care service here at Vision

Nursing Home & Vision Rest Home. 

Dietitian Services

Our staff Dietitian and Food Service Manager coordinate and supervise all meal preparation. Attractive tasty meals are an essential part of our service. Nutritional goals are set for individual residents based on needs and food choices. Three (3) well-balanced meals are served daily to each resident and three (3) nutritious snacks are offered between meals. Alternate selections are available and residents are made aware of the choices at each meal. Special and therapeutic diets are prepared in accordance with doctor’s orders and a nutritional supplement is also available. Feeding devices are also available if the need arises (i.e. rimmed plates, special cups, built up utensils). Residents will enjoy their meals in one of our beautiful dining rooms.

We also encourage families or friends to share meals with our residents for a minimal charge.

For special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries, arrangements for private dining rooms or any of our other larger rooms can be coordinated by contacting the Recreation Services Department.

Meal Times are:

Breakfast 8:00am

Lunch 12:00pm

Dinner 5:00pm

 

Snack Times are:

Morning 10:00am

Afternoon 2:00pm

A Resident Food Committee meets monthly and the Food Service Manager responds to concerns/comments regarding food and food service.


Menu

The menu operates on a 4-week cycle, offers resident meal choices, conforms to Canada's Food Guide and is checked by a registered Dietitian. The menu changes seasonally. Included here is a sample of a typical Sunday menu:
