RECREATION AND SOCIAL SERVICES
The Recreation Services Department is designed to meet individual resident needs
related to their social, physical, spiritual and emotional well being through
the provision of program services which include recreation leisure
services, volunteer services, pastoral care services, community
outreach and client advocacy. Program Services strive to maintain
or increase resident self-esteem, autonomy and individuality
while encouraging preservation of their previous lifestyle, respecting
choices and include opportunity for resident/family member participation.
ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS
Vision Nursing Home in Sarnia has a Program Services Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator,
Recreation Facilitators and a Social Services Worker who provide quality
programs to meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual needs
of residents. There is a wide range of activities offered from quiet one-on-one
visits to large group events. Programs at the Nursing Home are offered seven days a week
which include: games, exercises, Birthday Parties, crafts,
musical entertainment and special events. Regular outings are
scheduled which Vision’s van that is equipped with
a wheelchair lift. The monthly newsletter, “Vision News
and Views”, is given to each resident and
posted in various locations throughout the building, to communicate upcoming
activities. Monthly and daily calendars are posted to keep
residents, staff and visitors up to date on events. Family and friends are
welcome to attend any activity at the Nursing Home or Rest Home. |

TRANSPORTATION
Access to the Red Cross OR Care-A-Van in our community of Sarnia Lambton.
SOCIAL SERVICES
Our on-site social service worker provides support as residents transition
to their new home. Residents are encouraged to attend the the monthly
Resident Council meetings. A Family Advisory Council plays an important
role as advocate for resident welfare and provide reccomendations
for improvement to the administration.
Support Groups are offered on site including a Parkinsons Support Group.
SPIRITUAL AND RELIGIOUS CARE
Holistic Care at Vision involves the total care of the residents
in mind, body and spirit. The goal of Pastoral Care is to maintain,
strengthen and renew the spiritual component of the residents'
total health, and to provide spiritual support for families and
staff. This goal is met in co-operation with care givers,
the residents and where practical with families and local clergy.
Ecumenical services are held every Sunday. Other services include Hymn sings, Bible Studies, private communion services. Residents and family have access to a private chapel.
